Adhyatma Vidya Mandir
( Institute of disseminating the Knowledge of the Self )
“Immortality is gained through knowledge”
Adhyatma Vidya Mandir is an Institute of disseminating the knowledge of the self, an Institute that perpetuates the vision of Śāṅkaraparamparā, unfolding the vision of Vedānta on how Ātmā alone is truth, the non-negatable, absolute reality, and everything other than Ātmā is Mithyā, a relative reality, dependent on Ātmā. The understanding of this vision alone leads one to the discovery of the nature of self as non-dual, the one without the second. Coming down from the lineage of this Śāṅkaraparamparā, from Lord Shiva himself to Ādi Guru Śaṅkarācāryajī, to Pujya Swami Chinmayananda Saraswatiji (Parama Guru) and Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswatiji, with Pujya Swami Dayanandaji as the Guru, Pujya Swami Viditatmananda Saraswatiji has sailed the Institute to awaken in people a desire for truth, for knowledge of the self. For the last 40 years, Pujya Swamiji has been conducting Vedānta classes, and this endeavor got a strategic platform through the establishment of Adhyatma Vidya Mandir.
Adhyatma Vidya Mandir was established in 1983 as a registered public trust, with Pujya Swami Viditatmananda Saraswitiji as the chairman and Acharya of the Institute. The Institute has blessed many seekers for the past 35 years with its range of spiritual activities. The Ashram was established later in 1993 and was named ‘Tattvatirtha’. Located in Thaltej area, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Tattvatirtha Ashram includes a place of worship, lecture and satsang hall, office and bookstore, residential suites and rooms, a place for Yāga-Homa, and is enveloped by green space with trees, shrubs and large lawns where birds and animals find a good ecological niche for their existence. While the chirping of the birds as though sings the glory of the Lord, the daily morning and evening puja of the Lord creates a positive environment, and on the whole maintains peace and serenity which enables one to contemplate on the nature of the self. For the past 25 years, the Tattvatirtha Ashram has supported not only the primary activities related to Vedānta teachings, but also supported devotional, cultural, and children’s activities, social services, and Vedic Yāga-Homa as an offering to the devatās.
